Our client, a globally recognised airline operator sustained damage to a flight surface on one of their aircraft on descent into Ibiza airport. This rendered the plane unsafe to depart and a replacement part was required urgently to reduce mounting costs and inconvenience for delayed passengers, having to lease in a replacement aircraft etc. HSM’s “Mission Critical” team were tasked with an “Aircraft on ground” situation.
The “Mission critical” team evaluated the most optimal solution. The item, which measured 260 x 245 x 155cms at 800 kgs was too large to travel by airfreight. The team identified that the quickest option would be to employ a fresh double-man team to drive to Barcelona and connect with a daily ferry to Ibiza…. The clock was ticking and it was imperative that the wheels were set in motion immediately to gain a fighting chance to complete the challenge. An appropriate vehicle was positioned at the clients shipping location within 120mins. The client was regularly appraised with progress updates.
Delivery was made within 32hours of collection. An extraordinary benchmark, with perhaps a little intervention of good luck!
